A Nurse Run Clinic – Adolescent Series is a community-based healthcare initiative designed to promote the health and well-being of adolescents through comprehensive health assessment, early identification of health problems, health education, counselling, and appropriate referral services. It aims to empower adolescents with the knowledge and skills necessary to adopt healthy lifestyle practices and make informed decisions regarding their physical, psychological, and social health

The Department of Community Health Nursing and the NSS Unit of Pushpagiri College of Nursing, through the students of the 8th Semester B.Sc. Nursing, participated in the Nurse-Run Clinic – Adolescent Series conducted at Kuttoor Family Primary Health Centre on 21 July 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, as part of the Community Health Nursing Internship Programme and in response to a request from the Kuttoor Grama Panchayat.The Nurse-Run Clinic – Adolescent Series is an ongoing community-based healthcare initiative conducted to address the health needs of adolescents through preventive, promotive, and educational interventions. As part of this initiative, the students actively participated in providing adolescent health services under the supervision and guidance of the healthcare team.The programme was carried out with the support and cooperation of the Medical Officer (MO), Health Inspector (HI), Junior Public Health Nurse (JPHN), ASHA workers, and other healthcare staff of Kuttoor Family Primary Health Centre, whose guidance and active participation contributed to the successful conduct of the clinic.
During each clinic, a detailed assessment is carried out for every adolescent beneficiary. The assessment includes the collection of identification data, personal history, health history, dietary habits, lifestyle practices, and menstrual history where applicable. A comprehensive physical assessment is performed, including measurement of vital signs, height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), general physical examination, and identification of any health concerns. Psychosocial assessment is also undertaken to understand emotional well-being, stress-related issues, behavioural concerns, and social support needs.
Based on the identified needs of the beneficiaries, individualized health education and counselling are provided. The sessions cover topics such as balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, prevention of anaemia, physical activity, mental health awareness, stress management, substance abuse prevention, reproductive health awareness, and the importance of seeking timely healthcare services. Adolescents requiring further evaluation and management are referred to the Medical Officer for appropriate care.
The Nurse Run Clinic – Adolescent Series is being conducted with the active participation of the beneficiaries and the wholehearted support of the healthcare team at Kuttoor Family Primary Health Centre. The programme continues to provide valuable opportunities for the students to strengthen their competencies in adolescent health assessment, counselling, health education, and community-based nursing practice.
