World Population Day 2025 was celebrated atPushpagiri College of Nursing, Thiruvalla, by 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students under the NSS Unit and Community Health Nursing Department at College Auditorium on12th July 2025 at 3:00 PM with the theme “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world”. The program aimed to raise awareness about population issues and promote inclusive and sustainable development through education, equity, and health. The event commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by the college choir, invoking blessings for the program’s success. This was followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Jesty Sajan, who extended warm greetings to all dignitaries, faculty, and students, and set the context for the day’s observance. The main highlight of the program was a panel discussion on the significance of World Population Day. It was coordinated and moderated by Ms. Ancy Achamma Idickle,with thoughtful contributions by panel members: Ms. Helna Joseph,Ms. Ans Maria,Ms. Sona Maria,Ms. Aparna Biju,Ms. Anjana Krishna, and Ms. Aksa Merin. The panelists addressed various aspects of population dynamics including problems faced by youngsters due to increase in population, population trends of the world, key trends of population growth, world population and sustainable development goals, measures to overcome population crisis, agencies that focus on population issues. Following the discussion,Ms. Marina Biju delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to the event. Special thanks were extended to Prof. Vineetha Jacob, Principal of Pushpagiri College of Nursing, and Prof. Mathew Soney, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing, Mrs. Neethu, Tutor and theNSS unit for their continued support and encouragement. Gratitude was also expressed to all faculty members, and the Management of Pushpagiri College of Nursing for their active participation and support in making the program a success. The event concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, uniting all present in a spirit of solidarity and commitment to national development. The program successfully fostered awareness among nursing students and the college community about the importance of managing population growth through inclusive, informed, and sustainable practices.
