Cancer is not one disease. It is a group of more than 100 different and distinctive diseases. Although there are many kinds of cancer, all cancers start because abnormal cells grow out of control. Cancer may also be called malignancy, a malignant tumor, or a neoplasm (literally, a new growth). Cancer is the Latin word for crab. The ancients used the word to mean a malignancy, because of the crab-like tenacity a malignant tumor sometimes seems to show in grasping the tissues it invades.The rate of new cases of cancer (cancer incidence) is 442.4 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2013–2017 cases). BREAST CANCER HEALTH EDUCATION
As a part of our Community Health Nursing posting We students of second year Bsc(n) held a Cancer awareness Health Education Program at Bodhana PHC on 15-02-2020 at 10am – 12pm..The program started by an welcome speech about increasing rates of cancer and the importance of early detection. By 10.00am at bodhana we played a skit which includes Health Education about the Definition, causes, Risk factors, types, signs and symptoms, complications, treatment and prevention of Breast cancer. 15 aganavawadi workers, Members of kudumbasree whole heartedly participated and made the program a grand success. The program ended at 12pm and vote of thanks was given by Mridhula Shine. In order to make this program a grant sucess many people guided and helped us… We are very thankful to the Bodhana staffs, Medical officers and others for giving us this wonderful opportunity to perform an awareness program… We are also thankful to our CHN Dept. Assistant professor Sr. Mayukha and Mrs. Soney Mathew for their guidance and support. Last but no the least we thank god almighty from bottom of our heart for helping us to make the program a grant success..
