Department of mental health nursing has its vision to prepare competent nurses, nurse leaders and researchers in the field of psychiatric nursing. To achieve this, department is furnished with experienced and dedicated faculty who renders quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students in classroom and clinical setting. Departmental mission is, providing quality education to the student nurses and thus equipping them with the competencies in providing comprehensive nursing care to people with various mental illnesses. Students demonstrate skill in identifying individuals with behavioral deviations through neuro psychiatric assessment and plan and implement care in achieving short term and long term goals of treatment. Students are also trained to assist in various psycho social therapies and rehabilitation activities which help the individuals to integrate into society. It has also its mission to facilitate the students to acquire knowledge, skill and attitude to serve individuals, families and society at global level. The department encourages departmental and interdepartmental researches to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge in the field of psychiatric nursing and thus help in the growth of profession, promotion of mental health and prevention of mental illness of the society at large.
