As part of community health nursing posting, 15 students of community health nursing department from 4th year BSc nursing went to free mega medical camp along with the various departments from Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital on 13th April 2024 at Nalukodi,St.Thomas Church . This free medical camp was conducted by KLM St. Thomas Unit, Nalukodi.. This programme was initiated by both Pushpagiri Medical Society and Joy Alukkas, Thiruvalla. We departed from hospital by 9:00 am and reached the destination by 9:30 am. They provided a warm welcome. After reaching there, everyone arranged arranged the medicines and other items required for the camp. Our coordinator had divided us to various departments. After the arrangements, the programme began at 10 am. The programme began with prayer followed by a welcome speech by Linu Idasseripparambil (former panchayath president, Nalukodi). The programme was officially inaugurated by MLA (Changanassery), Adv. Job Michael. Health education regarding stroke was given by Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor, and Department of neurology (PIMS). The duration of the camp was from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. There were various medical departments which include Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Dermatology, Orthopedics, General Medicine, ENT, Dentistry, Blood Bank (blood donation) and pharmacy. 100 spectacles were freely sponsored by the Joy Alukkas, Thiruvalla. Approximately 150 patients attended the medical camp. 10 individuals had donated their blood to blood bank. Each department consists of one PG or senior residents. After the camp, they provided us lunch. We thanked them for giving us this opportunity to attend the medical camp and become a part of this free medical service. Finally we thanked our coordinator Professor, Soney Mathew, HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing, for providing a better experience to us. Finally we reached back to college by 2:45 pm and shared our experience with others.
